The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) says that even though our “concerns are justified,” they don’t have the resources to insure that procedures to contain asbestos will be followed.
So what can we do to protect our children and families?
Come to City Hall Nov. 1 at 5:30 pm. Tell the councilors to vote “Yes” on the ordinance. Tell them to mandate tents to cover asbestos-contaminated construction sites to protect us from airborne asbestos.
To speak in favor of the Asbestos Ordinance, sign up
at City Hall between 5:00 - 6:00 pm on Monday, November 1
or call the City Council office (349-4280) before 3:00 pm on Monday.
For more information about the Asbestos Ordinance,
call your neighbor Lisa Birk at 354-3295.
If you can't be at the meeting,
then call or send the councilors an e-mail message to vote "Yes".
