Location: 2050 Mass. Ave. Senior Center
Time: 7:00 pm
The North Cambridge Stabilization Committee will meet at 7:00 PM at 2050
Mass Ave (Senior Center) on Wednesday, 7 August.
We hope to have some feedback from DPW on the status of thorny park plants
(don't laugh, they hurt!) and the possibility of the NCSC beginning some
sort of regular park clean up by then.
I am trying to get either Susan Clippinger from the City's traffic
department or a representative of the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA runs
Jefferson Park and also, an important sideline to the affordable housing
discussions pertaining to Trolley Square, Russell Street and Bolton Place,
they have a condo program where they put affordable condos in small numbers
in various communities, rather than large numbers of units lumped together)
to discuss their departments at this meeting.
We will also briefly discuss:
*the Bolton Place Just A Start appeal,
*the Russell Field build-up
*the latest status of the Yerxa Road underpass (continueing negotiations
with the MBTA, environmental testing for the long term upgrade and a
possible new tunnel going to Richdale???)
*Trolley Square (inexplicably, the city distributed draft recommendations to
the Trolley Square committee last Thursday. At this point, the City is
refusing to hold any more large scale public meetings on the future of this
site, despite major community concerns about parking problems posed by the
City's preferred option of roughly 50 housing units there)
*the future of the VFW Hall (declared by Community Development as being
unfit for housing after years of neglect by the City, what will happen to
this building? Thus far, CDD has ignored repeated requests to see the
engineering report that declared the building unfit for housing. The Senior
Center would love to utilize the space for meetings, there has been talk of
a Tip O'Neil museum, etc.)
